Coherent optical module supplier Acacia Communications, the first manufacturer to launch OIF MSA-based coherent transponders and coherent CFP transceivers, has once again become the first optical module supplier to bring 400Gbps coherent transceiver modules to the market. The company said it is sampling its AC-400, a Flex-rate coherent 400G 5*7 transceiver module.

　　This mid-size optical transceiver module utilizes Acacia's unique fourth-generation DSP technology and silicon-based integration technology to accommodate 100G, 200G and 400G rates. It supports 50-GHz spacing and is suitable for flexible mesh DWDM networks.

　　In addition to DP-QPSK and 16QAM, this module can also use 8QAM to support application requirements with more capacity than DP-QPSK and longer transmission distance than 16QAM.

　　Acacia said 10 customers have requested samples so far and expects the module to begin production by the end of the second quarter of this year.
