Optical transceiver supplier Champion ONE said it can now offer CFP2 optical transceivers for 100G Ethernet applications.
The newly introduced CFP2 optical transceivers complement the company's Passport family of CFP optical transceivers. Compared with CFP, this CFP2 has two-thirds less power and half the size, which means it can meet the needs of customers who are looking for low power consumption and higher port density.
Champion ONE says it offers CFP2 in four configurations:
* Single rate 100GBase-SR10, for multimode fiber applications, the transmission distance on OM2 fiber is up to 82 meters, and the transmission distance on OM3 fiber is up to 300 meters, and the maximum power consumption is 4W.
* Multi-rate SR10 can be applied to 100GBase-SR10 Ethernet and 10*11.2-Gbps Optical Transport Network (OTN) through multimode fiber. The transmission distance is up to 100 meters on OM3 fiber and 150 meters on OM4 fiber, and the maximum power consumption is 4W.
* For single-mode fiber applications, the single-rate 100GBase-LR4 module supports 10 km transmission with a maximum power consumption of 8W.
* The multi-rate LR-4 module supports 100GBase-LR4 Ethernet and OTN OTU4 411-9D1F applications, with a transmission distance of 10 kilometers and a maximum power consumption of 8W.
25G SFP28 DAC is a 25GBASE-CR direct attach copper cable for data center environment. It provides a high speed, cost-effective alternatives to fiber optics in 25GbE Ethernet applications.
fiber pigtail is typically a fiber optic cable with one end factory pre-terminated fiber connector and the other exposed fiber.
This Article just briefly overviews 10G and 25G Ethernet (25Gb) technologies, focusing on the SFP+ transceiver and SFP28 transceiver.
