100G optical modules are developing towards low-cost mass production 400G demand is growing.RJ45 10G COOPER SFP MODULE

Release Date: Sep 20,2022

  Single Mode SC-SC

The market research firm reports that the latest survey of optical component suppliers shows that most telecom and network equipment vendors are shipping 100Gbps ports, and half of them plan to launch 400Gbps ports by mid-2017.

The titled "100G Device User Survey: Market Outlook" analyzes the current and future 100G optical module market and the corresponding PHY chip market. The report is primarily based on a survey of engineers, researchers, product managers and salespeople in the field of telecom and network equipment vendors around the world.

Analysts at the company said that home broadband, mobile data and highly concentrated enterprise business have contributed to the fast-growing data traffic, which is the fundamental driving force behind the demand for 100G business. Telecom operators require 100Gbps connections in data centers, enterprise networks, metro and long-haul networks. Every line card in many systems

Requires 4 or more 100G line cards and uses a switch chipset that supports up to 32 100G interfaces. Compared with 10G and 40G interfaces, the 100G interface is already very cost-effective. The next step will be to achieve low-cost mass production of 100G modules, and the demand for 400G modules will also start to emerge in 2016/2017.

The main findings of this survey include:

  1. More than 60% of telecom and network equipment vendors are selling 100G ports

  2. 400G demand is growing, 50% of respondents expect to start shipping 400G ports in mid-2017

  3. 100GPHY chips begin to transition from ASIC and dedicated chips to FPGA

  4. 100GBase-LR4, followed by SR10 is currently the most important 100G port type

  5. CFP and CFP2 are currently the most important 100G module packaging specifications

  6. CFP4 and QSFP28 will replace the role of CFP and CFP2 in the data center market and enterprise network market in the next two years

  7. CFP and CFP2ACO are replacing metro 168-pin applications

  8. Finisar is still the market leader in terms of quantity and quality

  9. When users choose a 100G module, the most important thing is performance
