The difference between 10 Gigabit optical modules and ordinary optical modules.Brocade compatible SFP optical transceiver

  QSFPDD-LR8-400G

At the current stage of society, the 5G era has arrived, and the optical communication industry has also developed rapidly. Of course, many related industries are also rapidly improving, and the field of optical modules is not excluded. In addition to the commonly used optical modules, there are also 10 Gigabit optical modules. Optical modules, today we will talk about the difference between general optical modules and 10G optical modules, which is one of the 10G optical modules.

① Save fiber optic cable resources

Compared with general optical modules, the total number of optical fiber lines used by 10G optical modules is less. The 10 Gigabit optical module reuses the original multi-channel data signals of different optical wavelengths into one data signal according to the multiplexer, and then transmits laser welding to the coordinator according to a single fiber, and the coordinator demultiplexes one data signal according to the demultiplexer. Repeated use into multi-channel data signals of different optical wavelengths are transmitted to matching machines and equipment. Generally, an optical module must use one optical fiber line to transmit one optical wavelength, and multiple optical fiber lines must be used to transmit a variety of wavelengths. Therefore, the 10G optical module can save more fiber line resources compared with ordinary optical modules.

②10 Gigabit optical modules must have a wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer

Generally, the optical module can be used normally when it is inserted into the network switch after the route connection is completed. However, after the 10G optical module is inserted into the network switch, a coarse wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer is required. The module has more coarse wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer.

③The wavelength of light is different during work

The 10 Gigabit optical module has a total of 18 working light wavelengths (1270-1610nm), and the distance between each working light wavelength is 20nm, while the operating light wavelengths of general optical modules are generally 850nm, 1310nm, and 1550nm.
