  The 10G optical module SFP+ overall solution is a complete demodulation demonstration working optical transceiver solution, which is mainly used in small form-factor plugs (SFP+).

  This solution reduces customer design time, saving customers cost, without sacrificing performance. This is achieved by combining TI's laser driver ONET1101, limiting amplifier ONET8501 and powerful MCU MSP430 into one SFP+ multi-source protocol standard package. Plus, the article will show you convincing design documentation and test results.

  This application note introduces you to schematics, PC board layout, Gerber files, bill of materials (BOM), firmware, and a graphical user interface (GUI); not only for modularity, but also for evaluation boards. This solution also describes the test setup, test data, and typical performance of the assembled circuit board.

  The Enhanced Small Form Factor Plug (SFP+) is a compact, hot-swappable transceiver for 10G telecom and datacom applications. This is a popular industrial format that is jointly developed and well supported by many system component vendors. Both the form factor and electrical interface are specified by a Multi-Source Agreement (MSA).

  Because of its complete laser driver, limiting amplifier optical transceiver application product line, combined with TI's powerful MCU, TI can provide customers with a complete set of SFP+ design solutions. We choose ONET1101 11.3G laser driver, ONET8501, limiting amplifier, MSP430, MCU for this 10G SFP+.
